Reframe Residence

Whitestone, New York

This renovation reimagines a traditional single-family house as a contemporary, light-filled home organized around clarity, flow, and everyday living. The project transforms a previously compartmentalized structure into a cohesive spatial system, where openness and continuity define the experience.

The intervention focuses on strategic removal and reconfiguration—establishing visual connections across the ground floor and reinforcing a central kitchen–dining–family axis. Circulation is simplified, daylight is extended deeper into the plan, and transitions between formal and informal spaces are resolved through proportion, material shifts, and subtle architectural cues rather than enclosure.

Upstairs, the layout is reworked to improve functionality and privacy, introducing a primary suite conceived as a quiet retreat, alongside flexible and efficient family spaces.

A restrained material palette—white oak, natural stone, and soft neutral tones—creates warmth and consistency throughout. The result is a measured transformation that elevates domestic life through clarity, comfort, and carefully considered design.
